Cookie Kits & Family Time

It can be a little more challenging to find family activities that don’t cost much (if anything) during the rainy seasons of the pacific northwest. One way to create a little family fun without breaking the bank is to snag one of the many cookie kits at Birch. Cookie kits and family time are a perfect rainy day activity.

No need to plan ahead. If you grab a couple of cookie kits (or other baking kits) the next time you see them in the warehouse, then you will have them for a rainy day when your kids are looking for an activity.

Just add a few eggs and some butter (or oil depending on the mix you choose) and you are ready to go!

Depending on the age of your kids you can enlist their help for some or all of the process. And if your kids are older and enjoy solo baking like mine, you can just point them in the direction of the mix and let them bake to their heart’s content (unassisted).

If you want to take the activity a step further, you can have your children think of someone they would like to share their creations with. Then they can box them up and deliver them to a friend.

This is an excellent opportunity to bring that Family Vision into play as you think about who you might want to gift these delicious treats to.

Don’t have a kiddo at home itching to bake, no problem! You can still do this activity solo or invite a friend over to join you in the process. Having a box mix or two on hand is a great way to create a little variety and fun without needing to buy a lot of supplies.

What other fun ways have you used items from the warehouse to cut back on that entertainment budget?
